World without Orphans bike tour
Four years ago a group of dedicated teens under the leadership of Gennadiy Mokhnenko, a pastor and a co-founder of movement, crossed Ukraine on bikes to spread the message of adoption. Many of the riders were former orphans and street children themselves. After seeing the success of the campaign, the group decided to ride around the world! Last summer they reached Vladivostok, a Russian city on Pacific Ocean. They have ridden for over 15,000 kilometers, inspiring families to open their heart and homes for the fatherless, mobilizing churches, and engaging media and the government. When a journalist asked one of the riders: “Why are you doing this? It’s so difficult and demanding”, the boy said, “I was an orphan once, but now I have a father and a mother. My dream is for every orphan to experience the same.” Hundreds of children in Ukraine and Russia have parents now because of their courageous effort. This summer the group is heading west and will ride halfway across Europe, starting on July 10th in Kyiv, Ukraine, and finishing in September in Stuttgart, Germany. Their route will also take them across Poland, Czech Republic, Netherlands, and Belgium. The purpose of the World Without Orphans Bike Tour is to motivate the Christian community in different countries to take responsibility for providing safe, stable, and nurturing families for vulnerable children. The group will be conducting meetings, conferences, and performances in collaboration with local churches and organizations to promote adoption, foster care, and family preservation. Please, take time to watch Father of Orphans documentary about Pastor Gennadiy and the previous stages of the WWO Bike Tour.  If you are interested in learning more about the initiative or getting engaged in the European part of the tour in 2015, please, write to: Orphan Sunday One great opportunity to engage your church with the needs of orphans and for families to foster and adopt is Orphan Sunday. On the second Sunday of November, churches worldwide will celebrate God’s love for the fatherless and how ordinary people can make a difference. Any church can participate—from a showing of a short video or prayer for orphans during a church service…to a foster care “Heart Gallery” in the foyer…to a community-wide concert.
