Being Good News People
“Decisions are made by those who show up” This is the challenge of the UK’s “Show up” campaign, launched in January by Christians in Politics and the Evangelical Alliance UK.  Show Up Society is made up of many spheres: business, media, education, arts, family, politics & religion. But the Church normally focuses all its effort on this last sphere. But why doesn’t the Church do more to support teachers, journalists and politicians to be salt and light? Why aren’t we preparing and supporting Josephs, Esthers and Daniels of the future? Rather than shouting from a distance about what we don’t like about society, why are we not building relationships and credibility so that we can whisper up close? Of course, there are initiatives which are indeed envisioning and supporting Christians to be effective for God’s Kingdom in the public sphere. Show Up has only been running for a month but already there are plenty of great resources on its website. EAUK has also just launched a separate website focused on encouraging prayer, reflection, public debates and voting in the British general election in May http://election2015.eauk.org/ . And of course, the European Evangelical Alliance staff team are involved in several teaching and mentoring initiatives. We would love to know what others are doing to nurture Christlike involvement in society. Or let us know how we can help you.    (See https://www.europeanea.org/index.php/resources/ for various resources including socio-political ones).
