SUMMARY:Week of Prayer
DESCRIPTION:The Evangelical Alliance Week of Prayer is an old tradition: going back to the year after the launch of Evangelical Alliance in 1846. It was one of the agreed initiatives that came out of that founding conference.\n\nThe Week of Prayer has had major take-up in many countries in Europe for a very long time. In many of the countries of the former communist world in Europe it was the only Evangelical Alliance thing that stayed alive through the communist era…..so\, even when people had heard of nothing else to do with Evangelical Alliance\, they had often heard of the Week of Prayer.  It pre-dates the ecumenical ‘Week of Prayer for Christian Unity’ by about a century.\n\nHistorically it has been in the first full week of January each year.\n\n \nDates of coming week of Prayer are: 14 to 21 January 2018\nTheme: “Pilgrims and Foreigners”\n\n\n\nFind the Materials here in different languages:\n\n2018 – Week of Prayer – English\n\n2018 – Week of Prayer – Spanish\n\n2018 – Week of Prayer – Russian\n\n

SUMMARY:Insights into Global Generosity
DESCRIPTION:Generosity is at the heart of God’s character\, and we can only be generous in response to blessing that we have already received. This conference will provide a unique opportunity to engage with a wide range of perspectives and insights into what it means to reflect God’s generosity from around the globe. As well as traditional speaker input\, sessions will also include the opportunity for shared conversation and bible study – this conference aims to be a shared journey of exploring God’s generosity and our response with a wide and diverse range of fellow travellers. The conference will include the UK launch of a European Community of Generosity as well as time for fellowship\, networking and inspiring worship.\nSpeakers and Sessions include: The UK Launch of a European Community of Generosity: an informal network of individuals and Christian organisations across Europe who commit to being generous stewards. Members will be encouraged to influence and nurture stewardship\, generosity and giving as a core value of the European Church. The intention is to enable connection\, networking and collaboration with other generosity champions and to share and distribute resources\, stories and information on events and initiatives. This is much wider than the current refugee crisis\, but this provides a clear demonstration of the conflict between fear and generosity in our continent. We will be joined by Dr Sas Conradie\, an ordained minister in the Dutch Reformed Church in South Africa\, and Co-ordinator of the Global Generosity Network.\n\n Gunnar Johnson serves as the Pastor of Financial Stewardship at Gateway Church\, one of the most generous US churches and as Director of Generosity of King’s University in Southlake\, Texas. He is the author of Generous Life Journey.\n Redina Koleneci will speak on generosity\, stewardship and giving in Europe. She has trained hundreds of church leaders and fundraisers in Christian organisation in the UK\, Europe\, Australia & the USA.\n Rev. Dr. V. J. Samkutty is NT lecturer and Acting Principal of Allnations College. Sam will speak on Generosity and Mission with reference to Acts\, and also reflect on cultural differences in giving between India and the UK.\n Fr Herbert Fabriquela (Philippines)\n Susan Pinkney on the CAF World Giving Index.\n Peterson Karanja (CEO of a microfinance program of the Anglican Diocese of Thika in Kenya). He holds an MA degree (Theology & Development) from Leeds University.\n A European group from Mission-Net will help us explore how we encourage 16-30 year olds to discover generosity.\n Bible reflection – combining speaker input\, and time around tables reflecting on key passages together. … with other contributors in the pipeline. … plus fellowship & networking and inspiring worship.\n\nFor more information and to register\, download the brochure.

SUMMARY:Refugees in Europe: a fence or a bridge?
DESCRIPTION:How does the church respond to large numbers of refugees coming into Europe from all over the world?  Responses to refugees vary even among Christians from an enthusiastic welcome to a sharp rejection.  How do we balance a Biblical mandate to have mercy on the foreigner with the practicalities of catering for the emergency needs of such an influx?  How can we accommodate new citizens while avoiding the feeling of being overwhelmed by a new Völkerwanderung?\n\nThis year’s EEMA conference will address not merely the current refugee crisis in Europe\, but look at the ongoing impact for the church in Europe.  How will this change the nature of church and its place in society?  How will mission be affected?

SUMMARY:We need to pray! Refugee Sunday 19 or 26 June 2016.
DESCRIPTION:Please get ready to get the Church praying for refugees on 19 or 26 June. The Refugee Highway Partnership have produced posters in several languages and have selected some of their resources to highlight too.  See http://www.refugeehighway.net/world-refugee-sunday.html\n\nIt would be great if Evangelical Alliances\, RHP members and other ministries engaging with refugees across Europe also shared stories and prayer points about what is happening in your nations or what you want to see happen.\n\nRefugee Sunday starts or finishes the week containing 20th June which is United Nations World Refugee Day.   It is the ideal opportunity to encourage your nation in what it is doing to welcome and assist refugees or to encourage them to aim higher.\n\nLook out for more ideas\, stories\, prayer and policy positions at www.eearefugees.org and https://www.facebook.com/EEAHopeforEuropeRefugees/  Thanks for sharing content.\n\nRHP & EEA have also published a call to prayer

DESCRIPTION:This year’s State of Europe Forum will focus on the Biblical foundations of freedom\, and the values and principles the founding fathers of the EU identified as necessary to establish the unprecedented period of peace and freedom we are tempted to think of as normal. Given Europe’s current crises\, such reflection is a pressing priority.\n\nThe venue\, Amsterdam’s historic Zuiderkerk\, is itself a poignant reminder of what happens when freedom is lost. The church was used as an emergency mortuary during the last winter of the war–the ‘hunger-winter’–when the ground was frozen so hard the bodies of those who starved to death could not be buried.\n\nOn Sunday afternoon\, May 8\, the forum opens with a public celebration of freedom\, with artistic participation from Dutch churches\, thanking God for the freedoms we do enjoy\, yet being mindful of those who still await their day of liberation. Indian speaker and writer\, Vishal Mangalwadi\, will remind us how the Bible has inspired freedom and emancipation throughout the centuries. Dutchman Mink de Vries will share about a revival movement that impacted many Dutch towns and cities and shaped Erasmus’ thinking on freedom.\n\nExpertise\n\nForum participants\, gathered from across Europe and the Christian spectrum\, will include politicians\, church leaders\, civic leaders\, educators\, academics\, media specialists\, activists and others concerned with the future of Europe. The forum itself begins on Sunday evening\, with a plenary session featuring Dr Jonathan Chaplin\, director of the Kirby Laing Institute for Christian Ethics in Cambridge. Jonathan is co-editor of the recently published book\, ‘God and the EU: faith in the European project’. The book aims to help British voters (in the first place) understand historical\, moral and spiritual dimensions of the EU rather than just economics\, as they approach their referendum in June. Jonathan is well-placed to help participants apply biblical thinking to issues facing us in Europe today.\n\nMonday\, May 9\, will be the 66th anniversary of Robert Schuman’s three-minute speech in Paris which launched the European Coal and Steel Community\, and is officially recognised as the birth of the European Union. The forum is held each year around this date to highlight the little-known spiritual roots of the European project.\n\nFive tracks with two working sessions of 90-minutes will be held in the morning\, covering the fields of politics\, economics\, refugees\, security and family. Five more tracks\, with similar working sessions\, will be held in the afternoon on the topics of religious freedom\, trafficking\, creation care\, education and the role of the churches in shaping tomorrow’s Europe.\n\nContributors to each of these sessions bring expertise and experience from across the continent and over a broad range of disciplines\, helping participants to understand current situations\, think through implications and formulate responses. These include Dutch politician Joel Voordewind\, Swiss-Indian economist Prabhu Guptara\, Spanish journalist Noemi Mena Montes\, British theologian-educator Joshua Searle\, German businessman-theologian Timo Plutchinski\, French-based poet-author Gerard Kelly\, Syrian civil-rights activist Rima Tüzün and Dutch environmentalist Embert Messelink\, among others.\n\nThe logo in the top left of the photo above signifies that the forum is an official event on the Dutch presidency’s agenda. SUMMARY:World without Orphans
DESCRIPTION:Historic Step Towards a World Without Orphans\nFor the first time in history\, a Global Forum for a World Without Orphans will be held on 11-14 February 2016 in Chiang Mai\, Thailand.  Five hundred leaders from sixty countries will gather to activate\, connect\, and equip the Body of Christ worldwide to address the orphan crisis and lead the global response.\n\nMore than 1 billion children are exposed to violence every year and 152 million are considered orphans. At least 7 million of them literally have no one in their lives and need a new permanent family. Research demonstrates that institutional care is not the best solution for the development of children.\n\nFollowing the strong themes of adoption and caring for the fatherless woven through God’s Word\, the Forum delegates will work together to develop and share solutions that provide every child with a safe\, permanent\, and nurturing family.\n\n“Thankfully\, in many countries\, churches are joining efforts with governments\, NGOs\, and businesses to bring sustainable transformation to the way children are being cared for in their societies\,” shared Ruslan Maliuta\, leader of the Forum’s planning team. “The Body of Christ has the capacity to provide every child with permanent family connections and end the orphan crisis. As we read in Psalms\, ‘God is a Father to the fatherless and he sets the lonely in families (Ps. 68:5-6).’\n\nThe Global Forum is being organized by partners in the World Without Orphans movement with support of key leaders from Transform World\, 4/14 Window\, World Evangelical Alliance\, Lausanne Movement\, Pentecostal World Fellowship\, Global Children’s Forum\, Viva Network and other groups.\n\nSpeakers include General Secretary of the World Evangelical Alliance\, Bishop Efraim Tendero\, former CEO of Compassion International\, Wes Stafford\, Chairman of the Pentecostal World Fellowship\, Dr. Prince Guneratnam\, and many other influencers who will be sharing from their experiences in the field as well as their perspective on seeing the Christian Church globally move in this spirit of adoption.\n\nTo learn more about the Global Forum and how to apply\, please visit: www.wwoforum.org\n\nWorld Without Orphans is a global movement with a goal that every child will grow up in a safe\, stable\, and nurturing permanent family and know their Heavenly Father.\n\nContact information:\n\nWeb: www.worldwithoutorphans.org
