Short introduction

Roma Network’s  vision is to network, connect, and research for the sake of sharing the gospel and seeing transformation in Roma communities throughout Europe.

Roma Networks is a grassroots network dedicated to connecting Roma ministries throughout Europe. Our primary objective is to actively listen to individuals engaged in ministries among the Roma community, understanding their unique opportunities and challenges, and collectively charting a way forward. In each country, we have established country representatives who play important roles in influencing and expanding our network. During our country representatives meetings, we collaboratively devise strategies for the future, firmly believing that the Body of Christ already holds the solutions. In instances where a solution is not readily available, we commit to working together to develop one. By actively involving individuals in the process, we empower them to take ownership and contribute to the positive transformation of Roma communities.

Roma churches have played a pivotal role in numerous contexts, serving as catalysts for gradual transformation by promoting education and fostering better relationships with majority cultures. Recognizing the challenges faced by individuals living on the societal margins, it becomes crucial to adopt a holistic approach that addresses the multiple layers of their problems. After careful reflection within their communities, Roma leaders have identified key focus areas for the coming years.

1. Firstly, they aim to invest in equipping and nurturing the next generation of Roma leaders, offering mentorship opportunities through seminars.

Recognizing the importance of leadership development, Roma leaders are committed to investing in the training and growth of young Roma individuals who show potential for leadership. Through seminars, workshops, and mentorship programs, these emerging leaders will receive the necessary tools, guidance, and support to effectively lead and serve their communities. By fostering a new generation of Roma leaders, the aim is to create a sustainable and empowered leadership pipeline.

2. Secondly, there is a strong emphasis on sharing existing materials on children’s ministry from various contexts.

Understanding the significance of nurturing faith and providing holistic care for Roma children, the focus will be on compiling and sharing resources related to children’s ministry. This includes materials such as curriculum, teaching resources, and best practices from various contexts that have proven effective in engaging and educating Roma children. By pooling together these valuable resources, Roma churches can enhance their children’s ministry programs, ensuring that the younger generation is equipped with a strong spiritual foundation and practical life skills.

3. Thirdly, efforts will be dedicated to helping create programs that support job creation within Roma communities

Unemployment and lack of economic opportunities often pose significant challenges in Roma communities. In response, Roma leaders are dedicated to developing programs that facilitate job creation and entrepreneurship within these communities. This may involve initiatives such as vocational training, skills development workshops, and the establishment of cooperatives or small businesses. By promoting self-sufficiency and economic empowerment, the aim is to break the cycle of poverty and foster sustainable development within Roma communities.

These focus areas highlight the proactive approach of Roma leaders in addressing the specific needs and challenges faced by their communities. By investing in leadership development, improving children’s ministry, and promoting economic opportunities, they seek to bring about positive and transformative change in Roma contexts.

Structure

Roma Networks operates under the guidance of a dedicated board comprised of six individuals, each actively involved in different Roma ministries across various countries. Since its establishment in 2014, Roma Networks has strategically worked in Europe, diligently forging relationships and fostering collaboration among Roma and non-Roma ministries in diverse contexts. This foundational relationship building laid the groundwork for the momentous Second European Conference held in 2016. A pivotal outcome of the conference was the election of 44 country representatives, one from each participating country. These representatives serve as key figures both in leading their own countries’ initiatives and advising the board. Through these structured interactions and platforms, Roma Networks strives to strengthen its leadership and networking capabilities to better serve Roma communities across Europe.
