European Elections: Do you vote?

European Elections: Do you vote?

In June 2024 we’ll have the opportunity to elect a new European Parliament. Will you participate in the election and if so, do you know whom to vote? What criteria do you use for selecting a candidate? The candidates have already started their preparations and so have we!

No, as EEA, we won’t tell you what party or candidate you should support. That is your own responsibility. But we strongly believe that it’s important to cast your vote in the European Elections even though Brussels/Strasburg might feel quite far away from your day-to-day reality. It is closer than you might think!

Given the distance to Brussels/Strasburg, you might find it difficult to decide whom to vote for. Media are usually better at reporting about regional and national politics than about European politics. And not all of their reporting might be completely accurate.

European politics is complicated and we’d love to provide some guidance in the next few months. We’ll start with a short introduction about the power and responsibilities of the European Parliament and the European Commission. Further, we will provide you a framework, a pair of Biblical glasses, and some very practical questions that might help you in selecting a candidate of choice, and finally, we’ll share some prayer points.

We hope that this election package will motivate you to vote, will help you to vote well informed, and will guide you in praying for all those involved.
