Romans 12: 1-2.  “So here’s what I want you to do, God helping you: Take your everyday, ordinary life—your sleeping, eating, going-to-work, and walking-around life—and place it before God as an offering.” (The Message) When society around us increasingly thinks religion is irrelevant or even dangerous, our challenge is to redouble our efforts visibly to be and share the Good News of Jesus Christ. And where are Christians generally most visible to non-Christians and for the most amount of time? At work. How do we inspire Evangelical Christians to serve God in their Monday to Friday lives? How do we help them to see the workplace as their mission field? How do we equip them to be witnesses both in their relationships with colleagues and in how they do their work? EEA staff and members are actively involved in creating resources and developing events, mentoring programmes and networks to support especially the next generation of Evangelical Christians to be Christ’s ambassadors at work.  Sometimes, this is general input, with a theology of work and Christian professional ethics.  But much of the effort focuses on influential spheres of society like business, law, media, education, science, economics or politics where Christians can have a particular impact. Theologian Tom Wright said to EAUK’s www.thepublicleader.com “When we look at the bigger issues of society, the issues of government, the issues of world health, the issues of education, the issues of medicine, then it seems to me it would be ridiculous to say God doesn’t want Christians in all of those areas, because He does. God wants people who are faithful, prayerful, who are themselves informed by the life, teaching and above all the death and resurrection of our Lord Jesus. God wants such people to be humble, wise, stewards of his love and generosity so the world may become a place that even though we won’t build the kingdom by our own efforts, we will never the less be building for the kingdom which God himself will one day bring.” See the links below for some good workplace / public leadership resources.
