With many worship services and other church activities cancelled due to Covid-19, many digital tools supporting Bible engagement have seen record-breaking user numbers in 2020. YouVersion, for example, reported the highest level of Bible engagement in their app history. Especially countries on the African continent but also in Europe, including Belgium and the UK, showed an increase of Bible engagement on the platform of between 20-60%. In 2020, more than 1.4 billion reading plan days were completed, a 25% increase compared to the previous year, 51.1 billion Bible chapters were read or listened to, and the Bible App for Kids experienced a 90% increase of completed Kids Stories compared to 2019.

Inspired by the Spanish Evangelical Alliance, the European Evangelical Alliance became a YouVersion content partner last year aiming to reach a wider audience with the Week of Prayer material for 2021. “The Spanish Evangelical Alliance is using YouVersion plans for the Week of Prayer since 2017 and it has been a wonderful experience,” says X. Manuél Suárez, General Secretary of the Evangelical Alliance in Spain. “One of the advantages of YouVersion plans is to have the analytics of the subscribers, completions of the plan and the ratings of the people.”

In addition to the Spanish reading plan submitted by the Spanish Evangelical Alliance, the English and Swiss German reading plans were made available on the YouVersion Bible App this year, reaching over 3.000 people through the platform alone.
