Bonn, Germany, 23 February 2026 – On this fourth anniversary of the full-scale invasion of Ukraine, the European Evangelical Alliance (EEA) is calling on Christians across Europe to continue steadfastly in prayer for the nation, its people, and its future.
After four years of conflict, the human toll remains immense. Thousands have been killed or injured. Entire communities have been destroyed. Families have been separated, and countless lives have been permanently altered by loss, trauma, and displacement.
Yet amid the suffering, there are also testimonies of hope. Churches continue to serve courageously. Acts of compassion and solidarity are widespread. Stories of protection, provision, and spiritual awakening remind believers that God remains present and active even in the darkest times.
The EEA urges Christians to persevere in prayer. Specifically, the EEA calls for prayer:
-
For families grieving the death, injury, or separation of loved ones.
-
For the safe return of prisoners and children taken to Russia.
-
For those living under daily threat of attack or facing severe shortages of essential supplies, that they may experience God’s peace and provision.
-
For relief and protection for those in occupied territories, particularly Christians outside the Russian Orthodox Church who face intensified pressure and discrimination.
-
For local churches throughout Ukraine, that they may be strengthened with sufficient pastors and others to continue serving their communities.
-
In thanksgiving for those who have come to faith in Jesus Christ during the past four years, and for continued spiritual renewal across the country.
-
For military chaplains ministering under extreme strain.
-
For Ukraine’s ability to defend its people and sustain the nation both now and in the years ahead.
