WEA Secretary General Dr. Geoff Tunnicliffe will conclude tenure at the end of this year
New York, NY – March 7, 2014 At the annual meeting of the International Council of the World Evangelical Alliance (WEA) in New York, Rev. Dr. Geoff Tunnicliffe, Secretary General and Chief Executive Officer of the WEA, shared with the Council that he would not be seeking a third term in the beginning of 2015. Dr. Tunnicliffe who has been elected the 13th WEA Secretary General in 2005 has served two five-year terms, which is one of the longest tenures in WEA’s history. “It has been a great privilege for me to serve as Secretary General of the WEA for the past ten years as part of a great team of both the International Council and staff,” Dr. Tunnicliffe said. “I believe the future of the WEA has never been brighter as we experience unprecedented opportunities for global Kingdom impact.” The Council members unanimously thanked Geoff for his outstanding contribution to the organization, which is immeasurably stronger than when he became Secretary General in 2005. Rev. Ndaba Mazabane, Chairman of the International Council, said: “Geoff is leaving the WEA in great shape. His contribution to the work has been outstanding. God led Geoff to us in His providence and has now led him to leave the position to younger leadership to take on the role as the WEA moves on to make a renewed contribution to a changing worldwide Church.” Dr. Tunnicliffe’s term will end on December 31, 2014. The International Council has begun conversations about the selection of a new Secretary General.
