The annual Week of Prayer for 2026 is set to take place from January 11 to 18. We invite Christians across the continent to unite in reflection and intercession. This year’s theme, “God’s Faithfulness to His People,” is inspired by Psalm 78 and emphasizes the need for believers to pause, remember God’s past works, seek repentance, and express thankfulness. Thankfully, the Italian Evangelical Alliance has once again produced the material for the Week of Prayer, which is available on the EEA website. In addition to some recommendations for hosting a prayer meeting during the Week of Prayer, devotions, as well as thanksgiving, confession and request prayers are offered for each individual day of the week.
The eight-day program of the Week of Prayer material guides participants through Psalm 78, focusing on daily themes such as remembrance of God’s revelations and interventions, recognition of human rebellion amid divine mercy, and gratitude for God’s grace and righteous judgment. Prayer subjects include thanksgiving for salvation, confession of unfaithfulness, and requests for renewed hearts and intergenerational faith transmission. Recommendations for local gatherings encourage inclusivity of all evangelical churches, including migrant and Roma communities, intergenerational involvement, and creative formats to foster diverse unity and inspire ongoing collaboration for gospel advancement.
